Donning a pair of scrubs for her role as surgical intern Isobel “Izzie” Stevens on the ABC hit Grey’s Anatomy, Katherine Heigl began her career as a child model. The Washington-born, Connecticut-raised actress had her first feature film role in 1992’s That Night.
Prior to her Grey’s success, Heigl was a series regular in the sci-fi WB drama Roswell until 2002, where she also portrayed a character named Isabel. After being ranked No. 19 on FHM‘s “100 Sexiest Women in the World” list in 2006, Heigl went on to receive universal praise for her lead role in Judd Apatow‘s Knocked Up, both a critical and box-office success the following year.
Heigl married singer-songwriter Josh Kelley in December 2007. Two years later, the couple adopted their first child together, a daughter named Nancy Leigh (nicknamed Naleigh). In April 2012, the couple announced they had adopted their second daughter.
